What We Believe
OUR  STATEMENTS  OF FAITH

THE WORD OF GOD
We believe that the Bible (constituting the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, as accepted by the Protestant Christian churches) is the written Word of God.  We believe that the Bible, as the objective revelation of God to all people, is fully inspired; i.e., that it has been written, compiled, preserved, transmitted and translated at the instigation and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit; and that it is authoritative in all matters of faith and conduct and is inerrant in original manuscripts.

THE TRINITY
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; that these are equal in nature and substance and in every divine perfection; and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

GOD THE FATHER
We believe in God the Father, who is spirit, and is personal, and who alone has life in himself; who is eternal, infinite, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent; personal spirit, who is perfect in holiness and wisdom; who is love and truth; who has created and sustains all things; who will bring all things to judgment.  We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of mankind, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He graciously saves from sin and eternal death all who He has effectively called to come to Him through Jesus Christ.

JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, our Lord and Savior, God's only begotten Son; who is begotten from eternity, not made; who became incarnate, God with us and is fully Christ and fully man.  We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles and His teachings, all as recorded in the Bible.  We believe in His substitutionary and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven, in His perpetual intercession for His people, and in His personal, visible return to earth at a future time known only to God the Father.

THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the Holy Spirit who eternally comes forth from the Father and the Son; who is the agent of creation and the presence of God in the world; who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; who regenerates, indwells, sanctifies and empowers all who have been given saving faith in Jesus Christ.
We believe in the filling and empowering of believers by the Holy Spirit for ministry today.  We practice the laying on of hands for the empowering by the Spirit; for healing, and for setting apart of those who God has ordained to lead and serve the church.

REGENERATION
We believe that all mankind are sinners by nature and are, therefore, under just condemnation before God.  We believe that those who, in response to God's call, repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become true children of God, who will live with Him forever.

THE CHURCH
We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a congregation of believers in Jesus Christ, each baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, fellowship, teaching and service. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.

CHRISTIAN CONDUCT
We believe that Christians should live for the glory of God and the well being of mankind; that they should be faithful stewards of their possessions, and that they should seek to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ.

ORDINANCES
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church:  Baptism and The Lord’s Supper (Communion).  These two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Baptism is the immersion of a believer in water, in the name of the Triune God, as a public demonstration of cleansing from sins and commitment to a new life of discipleship to Christ.
The Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ for the commemoration of His death, which provides complete atonement for our sins.

RELIGIOUS  LIBERTY
We believe that every human being can have a direct relationship with God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each local church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority.
